Spore Songs

Autographic means self-inscribing or ‘self-evident’ and the term refers to a form of visualising data through the tools that our environments provide us with, through material information. I saw this methodology as a way to allow humans to attune to environmental circumstances through it’s own aesthetic materiality. Mycelium fruit produce basidiospore (mushroom spores) and these mostly invisible traces can be detected when a mushroom is left against a surface. Here, the spore print sings a new song when the two-dimensional pattern is translated into sound.
