Bioshine was a client project developed with Canada Goose during my Master’s, in collaboration with Emily Gubbay. It addresses the fashion industry’s reliance on reflective tapes, which often combine multiple materials and are therefore non recyclable. Structural colour is a natural phenomena found when surfaces in nature appear iridescent and brightly coloured. Using biomimicry principles and the CSM Grow Lab, I created different shades of structural colour materials using nan-cellulose, that could be used in different applications across Canada Gooses garments. They are biodegradable, plastic free and avoid the use of chemical dyes and pigments.
